A Note from Wei

Dear Friends,

I still remembered the first time I heard Felix Mendelssohn’s first piano concerto, I was entirely obsessed by the delightful and charming nature of the piece. Every time I listen to it, no matter how exhausted I am sometimes, I always feel super refreshed and inspired by the music!

The concerto has brought me so much joy, and I am very honored to perform it at When in Rome on May 25 with Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, and most importantly, to share the happiness and excitement of the music with all of you!

Mendelssohn was a wonderful and special German composer during the Romantic period (same time period as Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt), but what is special about him is that his music has a classical style which always reminds me of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s music.

His romantic and classical elements combine perfectly in his writing. To me, Mendelssohn’s music is always elegant, gorgeous and joyful.

I am really looking forward to sharing the wonderful music with you on May 25!
