Denver Philharmonic Nominated for Emmy Awards

We are incredibly thrilled to announce that our original webseries, Playing Out, has just been nominated for not one but TWO Emmy Awards!

A few years ago, I was having dinner with solo soprano Elizabeth Baldwin. We chatted and laughed, and I knew that while she wowed audiences with her performance, they wouldn’t get a chance to meet Liz, the quirky, confident and charismatic girl from Toledo who couldn’t hide her thick, Great Lakes accent.

I knew we needed a way for you, our audience, to get to know these musicians beyond their arias and concertos, and Playing Out was born. Our pilot episode debuted in 2015, and two years later, we have produced a total of nine videos.

Last night, we were honored to learn that the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Heartland Chapter) nominated the series for Best Arts Feature, and our outstanding volunteer filmmaker (and my better half) David Sherman was nominated for Best Editor Short Form.

Next Thursday at our season finale, When In Rome, come be amazed by the virtuosic pianist Wei Luo performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1. And get to know the talented young woman behind the keys in the soon-to-be-released 10th episode of the (Emmy-nominated!) Playing Out with Wei Luo.

See you next week!
