Best Bets: Denver Phil, and some really cool cars
Classical Gershwin, Adams and cool cars.
Thursday the Denver Philharmonic wraps up its 67th season with a high-energy outing that’s part concert, part community party. The musical side features John Adams’ “Short Ride in a Fast Machine,” George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5. Building off the theme are such preshow extras as a paper airplane-throwing contest, food trucks and two Tesla Model S automobiles (“one for test drives, one for selfies and drooling,” according to the orchestra). There’s also an impressive soloist on the program: 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition finalist Fei-Fei Dong. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m., the music at 7:30 p.m. KPOF Hall, 1340 Sherman St. $10-$20; kids 12 and under are free.303-653-2407 or denverphilharmonic.org. Ray Mark Rinaldi
