Here we go!
Over the past year, we have been lucky to collaborate three times with our sister orchestra, Bayerische Philharmonic (Bavarian Philharmonic, or BayPhil) a premier European orchestra based in Munich, Germany.
First, to kick off our 2016–17 season, BayPhil Music Director Mark Mast guest conducted Wagner’s Overture to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Grand Opening of the Antonia Brico Stage, Sept. 30, 2016.
In the spring, Maestro Mast returned to Denver to guest conduct and debut our official partnership at Prost! In celebration, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper declared April 7, 2017 “Denver and Bavarian Philharmonic Day” (forever!)
Just a few weeks ago, BayPhil Oboist Hideki Machida appeared as a guest soloist performing Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin with DPO Concertmaster Katherine Thayer at Oktoberfest, Sept. 29, 2017.
And this week, we are sending nine of our musicians to Germany to perform with the BayPhil at their Oct. 21 concert in Herkulessaal (Hercules Hall) at Munich’s Royal Residenz.
Music Director Lawrence Golan will guest conduct Franz Schubert’s Magnificat and will perform a violin duet with Principal Second Violin Yiran Li. The performance will also include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s grand finale — Requiem.
