Three seasons ago, I had a blast playing George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Denver Philharmonic! I am so excited to return May 24with one of the most enchanting and beloved works in piano repertoire: Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at Russ-Keys.
Actually, this is the first piano concerto I ever learned. I remember instantly falling in love with this incredible piece even though I was only 11 years old, and my hands were barely large enough to reach the big chords; all the while struggling with the gazillions of notes.
I was so moved by its beauty and pathos that I would practice it over and over again; especially the second themes from the first and third movements.
The more I played the more I felt drawn into its amazing breadth and depth of emotion, passion, poetry, romanticism and energy.
Hope you will be able to join us for the concert on May 24!
