SCFD Funded Performing Arts Group Goes to China
DENVER—One of Denver’s fastest growing Tier III cultural organizations will bring music to China this summer. The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) will kick-off a 14-concert/14-city tour of the country on June 17 in Central China’s Yellow River Valley and concluded 24 days later in Lishui, in the eastern coastal province of Zhejiang.
“It will be such a pleasure to take this journey with my friends and colleagues of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra,” said Lawrence Golan, the DPO’s music director. “We take very seriously the fact that we will be musical ambassadors — representing the city of Denver and the state of Colorado. We will do our best to make you all proud!”
On June 3, the DPO will premier its China Tour program in Denver. Tickets for the concert are $20, and can be purchased at denverphilharmonic.org. The DPO expects a sellout crowd for this send-off performance. Golan will be joined by 60 musicians for the tour.
The program, entitled Eurotrip, will feature:

- Smetana: The Moldau

- Monti: Czardas, featuring Lawrence Golan, Violin
“This is the orchestra’s first international concert tour in its 67-year history,” said DPO Board President Jon Olafson. “We are so excited to bring some of Colorado’s most talented musicians to the world stage!”
The China concert tour is being organized and sponsored by Beijing Poly Theatre Management Co., Ltd.
