I am a bit of a closet classical fan. I typically play it every morning as it calms me and then start baking with fervor. So when I found the Denver Philharmonic and realized I could show up in jeans, enjoy a glass of wine, and listen to beautiful classical music at an affordable price—I had found my nirvana!
The DPO allows this to happen by bringing accessible classical music to our community and kids are always free.
Here are a few numbers to digest. It costs roughly $5,000 for a season’s worth of sheet music. It costs about $2,000 for each guest conductor or soloist we invite. More importantly, our ticket sales only cover approximately 28% of our season’s expenses.
The Colorado Gives Day goal we have set is $20k for 2020. Together, we can make this happen.
I feel so blessed to be part of an organization that allows my entire family to enjoy such high quality performances that are accessible for everyone. Please join me in donating to the DPO on December 10!
Did You Know about DPO?
We have been around for more than 70 years and are incredibly proud of the community that we have grown! Here are a few extra tidbits that you may not be familiar with about our work.
- This season our orchestra includes 79 musicians and will be performing 28 pieces of music. Broken down, we pay about $2.50 per musician per score.
- Over the past 3 seasons, DPO has featured the following world-class guest artists:
- 5 guest conductors
- 9 guest soloists
- 4 choruses
- 1 musical group
- 9 singers
- 7 actors
- For ticket sales to cover our full season budget, adult tickets would have to cost almost $100! But we like to keep things affordable for everyone with $25 adult tickets and free KidsTix. Your donations help to keep that a reality!
