Last week at Tattered Cover, we sat down with our Associate Conductor S. Mordecai Fuhrman (or Sam, as we call him!) to chat about our upcoming concert The One Ring featuring The Lord of the Rings Symphony by Johan de Meij. Sam will conduct the orchestra on Friday, April 8. But how does a conductor prepare for a concert? With the help of technology, Sam interviews composer Johan de Meij to learn more about the music and Johan’s process. The One Ring also includes Hector Berlioz’s Les Franc-Juges and Ernest Bloch’s Suite Modale featuring DPO principal flute Aaron Wille.
