November 20, “adventurous cellist” (New York Times) Jay Campbell performs Edward Elgar’s cello concerto, written in the ashes of the first World War. The great cellist Jacqueline DuPre’s memory endures due to her legendary recording of this concerto. The evening also features Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s Fourth Symphony “The Inextinguishable” which represents the will to live, and the Colorado premiere of Dan Locklair’s Phoenix for Orchestra.
