The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra started the decade as the Centennial Philharmonic Orchestra, a name it took on in 1986. In 2004, the organization underwent the name change to reflect our downtown location and avoid confusion with our neighbors in the newly formed City of Centennial. Dr. Horst Buchholz served as music director and conductor through 2009, after which he was appointed the orchestra’s first Conductor Laureate.
